Volunteers are needed at the Lewisburg Community Garden! Volunteer hours are each Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00-7:00. The garden is located at 208 N Water St (intersection of North Water Street and St. Anthony’s Street in Lewisburg). – Volunteers are needed on September 11th at 6:30 am, to help Girls on the Run of the Greater Susquehanna Valley. Volunteers will be assisting with the Lewisburg Hilly Half Marathon to direct runners and help at the water stations. – The Lewisburg Neighborhoods Corporation is holding the 3rd annual In River Clean Up to pull litter, trash, and large debris out of the Susquehanna. Participants are invited to come to Soldiers Memorial Park on North Water St by the old railroad bridge from 9am to 3pm on Saturday, August 27. If you are only available for the morning or afternoon shifts, that will work, too, just let us know when to expect you. Snacks and lunch will be provided. Mardi Gras fundraiser! Lewisburg Arts Council needs volunteers!

There will be a Mardi Gras party at Uptown on Tuesday, February 9. The Folk Justice Band, featuring Bucknell Professors Brian King, Steve Jordan, and Geoff Schneider, will perform. Refreshments will be provided, including “King Cake” (the traditional food of Mardi Gras) and “mocktail” versions of Louisiana cocktails to bring the Southern spirit. All proceeds from ticket sales and any additional donations will go to the St. Bernard Project, the Katrina Recovery Team’s service partner in New Orleans. The Community Service and Involvement Fair is on January 27th from 5:30-7:00 pm in the Terrace Room. 1-2 Volunteers are also needed to help with registration and other tasks.
