Welcome Back from Break!!

Volunteers are needed for a Community Cleanup scheduled for Sunday, October 29, from 2 to 4pm, meeting at Kidsburg in Hufnagle Park (downtown Lewisburg).  Cleanup will be dependent on conditions that day and number of volunteers available, but will include space along waterways in town, Bull Run Neighborhood streets and alleys, and possibly the railroad tracks. Bucknell Brigade, Community Harvest and Lewisburg Community Garden

-The weekly Community Harvest Hot Meal Program is looking for volunteer groups and individuals to serve the meal at 5:00 on the the dates: September 18th, October 2nd, October 23th, October 30th, November 27th and December 4rd. Following the serving, clean up is finished up at 6:30 pm. Girls On the Run needs coaches!

 Warm-up your spirit fingers, lace up your sneakers and inspire a group of girls to be strong and healthy. Teams of volunteer coaches facilitate our easy to follow curriculum with groups of 8-15 girls over the course of 10-12 weeks. Amidst the conversation, laughter, hugs and energy awards, you will witness transformational change in the girls and don’t be surprised if you realize that you are positively changing as well! Tutoring! Polar Bear Plunge! Chocolate Festival

– The After-School Tutoring Program is seeking work study eligible students who have afternoon availability, a desire to work with children, and strong organizational skills to fill open work study positions. You’ll work closely with an outstanding group of volunteers and directly with children grades K-12 from the Lewisburg School District at two local affordable housing complexes. You must be 19 years of age or older and willing to get certified to be a student university driver. We have 40 agencies attending from hospitals to animal welfare agencies. – Take the Plunge! The Polar Bear Plunge will take place on February 4th at 2:00 pm at the St. George Street ramp. -Volunteers are needed for a volleyball tournament fundraising event Lewisburg High School (815 Market St., Lewisburg, PA) on November 1st. Volunteers will help run the 9th grade food concession stand and possibly refereeing some of the games. Volunteers should arrive at 6:00 and are needed until 9:00 pm. – The Lewisburg Neighborhoods Corporation is holding the 3rd annual In River Clean Up to pull litter, trash, and large debris out of the Susquehanna. Participants are invited to come to Soldiers Memorial Park on North Water St by the old railroad bridge from 9am to 3pm on Saturday, August 27. If you are only available for the morning or afternoon shifts, that will work, too, just let us know when to expect you. Snacks and lunch will be provided. Outdoor cleans up and Lewisburg Art’s Festival!

– Lewisburg Community Garden will resume Tuesday and Thursday open volunteer hours from 4:00-7:00 each Tuesday and Thursday. Volunteers do not need to stay the whole time.
